Coordinated by filmmaker Takumã Kuikuro (1983), the Coletivo Kuikuro de Cinema [Kuikuro Film Collective] was founded in 2002 with support from the National Museum of UFRJ and Vídeo nas Aldeias. Set in the Ipatse community, in the Xingu Indigenous Territory, they document the everyday life of the Kuikuro and have produced films that have won awards in Brazil and abroad, such as Nguné Elü – The Day the Moon Menstruated (2004) and Itão Kue-gü – The hyperwomen (2011).
