Photogenic Praça Onze has been widely documented. At times, it appears almost austere, with the clear outline of the Frenchified urbanization in the foreground. At other times, surrounded by leafy casuarina trees, it is reminiscent of a bucolic park where families stroll on weekends. Around the popular kiosks and Escola Benjamin Constant, where Heitor dos Prazeres studied, a culture of solidarity, exchange and political and cultural affirmation developed despite the exclusionary policies enshrined by the Republic.
